Narrative Project Preface On this page, I will be providing an introduction to my Narrative Writing Project along with links to my draft(s) of the project. My previous experiences with narrative writing in academics has been extensive. I excelled at writing personal writings throughout middle school and high school. This was most likely due to my multiple tours with my choir. These gave me many interesting stories to write about. My most recent narrative writing project would be the memoir I had to write for my English class at Drexel University. For that assignment, I wrote about the time i performed for Pope Francis during his visit to Philadelphia. As my friends tend to describe me, I'm emotionally numb. I don't really get sad or happy, I just don't care about most things and feel neutral. As a result, this would make the memoirs that I write extremely boring due to a lack of emotion. However, through my prior narrative writing experiences in high school I was taught to write the memoir in the form of a story with a main conflict. I leaned to write my memoirs with the purpose of entertaining the readers.
The multiple blogs I've posted on this website also helped me progress as a writer for this assignment. On Blog Post #3, I wrote a letter to myself in order to connect to my author-self. This gave me a more personal connection to my writing as a whole. On Blog Post #4, I had to create a roundtable discussion scene about the writing process. Besides teaching about the writing process, it also gave me an experience in writing stories. Then, in Blog Post #5, I had to compose an emotional scene with dialogue and symbolism. Similar to Blog #4, Blog #5 helped teach me how to better write stories, especially in the memoir genre. On Blog #6, I was tasked with writing a counterfactual/alternate wave of events for the memoir I wrote in Blog #5. This taught me to how to better focus on the conflict of a story as I thought of how the events could've been different.
Drafts Here I will publish drafts of my memoir:
